Room13Delmar is a site of transformation positively challenging the social structures affecting the lives of its artist members. The stories at the heart of our studio are the stories of the senior artists, a small collective of self-selected artists who have been committed to creating together each week for the past fourteen years.

Room13Delmar is also a public platform for the insertion of the lived experiences of its artists into the narrative of our city. These experiences are shared through the artwork created in our studio and exhibited in our mobile gallery. The visibility of the creative life north of Delmar is an important piece of challenging the power dynamics in St. Louis. These dynamics are the result of historical exclusionary covenants and systemic inequalities that have created the hyper-segregated situation St. Louis continues to finds itself in today.
