Room13Delmar is a mobile studio that functions as both a celebration of the creativity that already exists north of Delmar, as well as a critique of the neglect of that creativity in the investment of the Grand Center Arts District. Beginning our fifth year as a studio, we continue to deepen our relationships of creative trust. These relationships are at the center of our artistic development and our understanding of ourselves as citizen artists. We create works that express our lived experiences and use our voices as artists to comment on events in the St. Louis community. Room13Delmar is also a sculpture; a cross between a vending tricycle and a ‘Mary Poppins’ bag that unfolds to create a space for creativity on the sidewalk, and at the Senior Living Apartments of Renaissance Place, Renaissance at Grand Community Building, and John Cochran Veterans Administration Medical Center, north of Delmar.
